Our lab focuses on understanding how transcription factors (TFs) regulate epigenome dynamics during stress responses in diverse plant species. We investigate where TFs bind, how the chromatin environment changes after they associate with their target genes, how to efficiently capture TF binding and epigenome dynamics, and how to precisely manipulate TF binding events. To address these questions, we use a wide range of genomic, genetic, and proteomic approaches.

If you are interested in one or more of these research areas, please don’t hesitate to contact us under mzander@waksman.rutgers.edu. We are always looking for enthusiastic young scientists at all career stages to tackle exciting and impactful questions.

We currently do not have any open postdoctoral positions, but please feel free to contact us to discuss potential postdoctoral fellowship applications. Although highly competitive, programs such as the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are always worth pursuing.

Postdoctoral Associates

We are part of the Rutgers Plant Biology Graduate Program and welcome skilled, motivated graduate students. Please apply through the program and contact us to discuss potential projects and funding opportunities.

PhD and MSc Students

We welcome undergraduate students from various disciplines. Please reach out to discuss potential projects.

We also participate in the Rutgers Aresty Undergraduate Research program (https://aresty.rutgers.edu/) as well as in the Rutgers RISE (Research Intensive Summer Experience) program (https://aresty.rutgers.edu/programs-funding/the-research-intensive-summer-experience).

There is also the opportunity to apply for a Waksman Institute Research Fellowship (WURF), a $4,000 fellowship that supports 10 weeks of laboratory research during the summer.
